Exciting 3 Year Delphi and Java development contract!

Our client is looking for a Delphi and Java developer for Winnipeg for a 3 year contract. The role is really twofold in that the Delphi skills are needed to maintain and support the legacy Delphi application while working with a small team of Java developers to build the legacy application’s replacement.
The client is willing to consider Java developers without Delphi if they have considerable experience with either VB or PowerBuilder. Don’t have Java experience? Interestingly, the client would also consider a Delphi expert without Java experience if the candidate
would also be willing to take Java training courses (at the candidate’s expense) outside of normal working hours. The benefit to the candidate is that he or she would emerge from this contract with 2-3 years of Java experience to add to the resume.

You should have strong RDBMS experience with either SQL Server or Oracle. Finally, you need to have experience with recent versions of Crystal Reports.

Requirements

Responsibilities

• Write, implement, test and troubleshoot interactive applications
• Create functional specifications and technical documentation
• Research and provide innovative and compelling technical solutions for interactive projects as requested by the Manager

Qualifications

  • Writing modular, documented and efficient code for high-traffic PHP environments
  • Strong understanding of open source web technologies and web services
  • Browser compatibility issues experience
  • Software such as Dreamweaver, Flash, Adobe PhotoShop and ImageReady

Nice to have

• Knowledge of .Net
• Knowledge of web site performance enhancing technologies, such as web caching
• Knowledge of Telecom Industry
