December 2002 General Meeting
General Meeting
Location:Auditorium
Date:Wednesday, December 4, 7:00 pm
Topic: Introduction to .NET Programming
Speaker: Rob Windsor, G6 Consulting
www.g6consulting.com

In this session we will cover all the major topics you should be familiar with when beginning your journey into programming for .NET.

We'll start with a discussion of assemblies (EXE and DLL files): what they really are, how they are versioned, deployment options and how they are loaded at run time. Once this foundation is laid we will spend the remainder of the meeting covering all of the major project types: WinForm applications, Class Libraries (DLLs), WebForm applications and Web Services.

Along the way we will touch on using ADO.NET, data binding, creating custom controls, boxing value types and more.

Most of the demonstrations will be "Old School" using Notepad and the Delphi for .NET Preview compiler but we'll see some VB.NET or C# using Visual Studio as well.
