Part I. Continuation (3rd week) of our Bank of TDUG Clinic - We have been attempting to create a set of interacting objects representing a simple Bank that can be implemented
in Delphi. The goal of this exercise is to teach a balance of both theory - Object-Orented Design (OOD), and practice - Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), and the importance of the
design aspect. We have had great success thus far in exploring issues of inheritance and polymorphism, and taking advantage of this in our design.
Part II. (NEW) Teach Yourself Delphi 4 - We are embarking on a new feature. Using the well-reviewed book "Teach Yourself Delphi 4 in 21 Days" by Kent Reisdorph (ISBN
0672312867 ), we will be conducting a course on Delphi 4. This is a modestly priced but extremely popular book available at most bookstores or online. It is also available free by
subscribing to MacMillan Publishing's Personal BooksShelf feature at www.mcp.com - meaning you can take part in this course for nothing more than the price of your TDUG membership!
For those interested in taking part, please begin by reading Chapter 1 "Getting Started with Delphi". This chapter provides a sound basis for understanding the layout of Delphi /
Pascal source files, Pascal Data Types, and some simple programming concepts. There is a Q∓A and a few exercises at the end of the chapter. We will review this chapter and
discuss issues and questions at the Clinic.
Note that even if you have been using Delphi for awhile, you may find even the early chapters in this book informative, you may be surprised at the things you did not know!
